Jonas Bronck from Sävsjö, in the Swedish province of Småland, founded the borough of The Bronx in New York City in 1639.
The story of Jonas Bronck was the inspiration for the start of Jonas Bronck Center. The rich historical and cultural treasure of Småland and Jonas Bronck´s home region will be the basis for tourism and deeper relations between The Bronx and our part of Sweden.
The main activities of the Jonas Bronck Center are historical research, documentation, digitization of historic documents, information and genealogy.
We are also the organizer of the annually Jonas Bronck Celebration.
